What to expect when following @hogbiker on Twitter

In the BIG chair! There have been great debates on twitter and it’s many benefits for both the netizen and business person alike. As a person who works in the IT industry, I see it’s avenues for both. I’m not going to go into the whole twitter thing (you can read my post about it on my family blog over here).

What this page is for is to set expectations on what you can expect from me should you decide to follow me on twitter.

Actually…I guess I’ll need to do a little twitter thing after all <sigh>.

Twitter, in all honesty, is a social media tool and this is the what I use it for. To connect and network with potential business partners and customers I would use a business one with a more suitable name, a better picture (or company logo), etc.

So here’s what to expect from the @hogbiker

I’ll do my best to follow you, but remember that since this is mostly for my “social” needs, we should most likely have something in common such as; motorcycling, photography, Dungeons & Dragons, etc. or something that interests me such as; Wine, women, movies, motorcycling, music, etc.

If you’re just pumping out famous quotes/philosophy or pimping your business…I’m not interested in this forum and will most likely let you hang out there or drop you if it gets VERY annoying.

So to reiterate:

  • If we have something in common – such as motorcycling and/or I know you (as in we’ve not only met but I actually like and am interested in you), you’re in and followed!
  • If you are looking for follower statistics, business partners, customers, business networking, ad nauseam…then don’t expect me to follow you or even respond to you.

I believe I shouldn’t have to state this, but if it’s riding season, expect very little in tweets or being picked up for following.

It’s about the ride people! As the love of my life says, my mistress is my motorcycle, my decompression is riding and so if I can ride BELIEVE YOU ME I will not be on a PC/Cell/iTouch or any other device to tweet.

I love taking pictures, but my dilemma is I have to STOP to take the picture and most times will just go “cool” and keep riding!

So let’s summarize…

  1. If it’s riding season in Alaska, expect less tweets (most likely one and the possibility that I won’t pick you up/follow you anytime soon. It can happen…just not anytime soon.
  2. If you are looking for me to be part of your business network or buy your whatever, or increase your follow stats it’s simply NOT happening.
  3. If we share a common interest, it’s not riding season, or I know you I look forward to following you. However I learn you follow #2….

So there you have it sports fans, & I look forward to seeing you on the road or tweeting you on the twitter!

I must in the end admit that this page was inspired by Will Wheaton’s great: What to expect if you follow me on twitter
