Gallery – Remembering Jezreel Herr

Jezreel Shayna Herr, 9, died Sept. 14, 2007, at home in Meadow Lakes from complications of merosin deficient muscular dystrophy.

Jezreel was born Dec. 19, 1997, in Anchorage and was in the fourth grade at Meadow Lakes Elementary School. She worked with MDA and Make a Wish foundation every year to raise money for the organizations.

Her family stated: “Jezreel was a very special young lady who touched everyone around her. Jez loved being outdoors with family and friends. She especially liked MDA camp and all the activities and counselors. Jez looked forward each year to the MDA telethon and working with the KTUU news crew. She enjoyed doing commercials for MDA and Harley Davidson along with participating in the Harley Davidson Live Ride for MDA. She loved going to the State Fair, company-sponsored picnics, camping and kayaking. Jez loved her time at Meadow Lakes Elementary and all the teachers and staff. She looked forward to attending school each day.”

Jez is survived by her parents, George and Aimee; and sister, Keera of Meadow Lakes; grandparents, Allen and Linda Dorman of Soldotna, Sue and Keith Dedrick of Wasilla, George Herr of Kasilof and Linda Herr of Kenai; great-grandparents, Glen Dorman of Burns Flat, Okla., Max and Barbara Walck of Payne, Okla., George and Nancy Herr of Soldotna, and John and Elaine Clary of Soldotna; aunts and uncles, Brandi Herr and Mark Carney of Wasilla, Aaron and Tyra Dorman of Soldotna, Kendall Dorman of Soldotna, Robert Herr of Kenai, and Ken Martin of North Kenai; cousins, Amelia, Feona and Waylen Carney of Wasilla, and Blaize, Miranda and Abraham Dorman of Soldotna; and many other great-aunts, -uncles and cousins.
