  1. So how come you only have Harley stuff?

Read my ‘Why This Site?’ (http://hogbiker.com/why/) or my ‘Introduction’ (http://hogbiker.com/about/). I’m a Harley-Davidson enthusiast. It’s not that I don’t like/respect/ride with other (brands of) bikes, it’s just I’m a HD guy and so it’s my focus.

  2. Where are all the babes?!?

Babes?!?!? Didn’t you see my UGLY face (http://hogbiker.com/photo-gallery)? Seriously…babes pictures are inevitable, but for now go somewhere like Born to Ride: Babes (http://www.borntoride.com/babe.html).

  3. How can I get hogbiker.com e-mail?

Right now it’s for friends only. I am thinking of how to provide e-mail to the masses, so maybe later on …keep checking the site.

  4. Can I link to your site?

Can you link to this site? Absolutely! I want you to! In fact, if you don’t know how to link to our site, just give me a shout via e-mail. I’ll help you because linking to this site rocks! Eventually, there will even be a banner farm!

  5. What’s a 1%’er anyway?

Basically the term 1%’ers (”One Percenter’s”) designates an “outlaw biker.” Many years ago, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) stated that 99% of motorcyclists (and groups) are law abiding people and only 1% are causing trouble. Originally, you were called a “full patcher” if you wore the patches of a motorcycle club (”M/C”). Many M/Cs and M/C’ers felt they were in that 1%, took the term and started using it to denote themselves as “1%’ers.” Truth be told…if you meet someone who is proudly advertising they are a 1%’er, chances are they aren’t.

  6. Do you consider yourself a 1%’er?

Nope…just a plain ‘ol biker. When I was younger I played around/rode with various types of groups , but as I have matured I realized that the majority of these groups aren’t for me. Shit like politics, gossip, and REQUIRED events detract from the thing that attracted me to these groups in the first place - the enjoyment of riding your motorcycle on the open road! I’ll do all my drinking, partying, etc. in the DAMN winter when I can’t ride!

  7. Was riding in a group, waved and you didn’t wave back. What’s up with that?!?

When riding by a group I don’t need to keep the wave going for a whole group or even people I recognize in the group. Do you really want me to have my arm out or waving (as in distracted from the road) for more than a few seconds?!? Gee…thanks pal.
Here’s how waving ACTUALLY works…this waving craze is fairly recent (about 10 years or so) and before that it was to extend a closed fist. As more riders started taking to the road it was a ‘hey, I recognize you!’ thing to acknowledge the fact that you’ve chosen the freedom of the road to being in a cage. Brand wasn’t an issue back then either. What I’ve noticed is it’s now considered “cool” to wave and people get offended if you don’t wave to them (I was reminded that HD even tried to take credit for this practice and call it the “Harley Wave” - creating a group of snobs who only wave to other HD riders ). If I hurt your feelings when I don’t wave because I am (like you should be) working to keep my bike rubber side down, I will not apologize. I’d rather listen to you whine later than looking out an ambulance window. In a group, only the group leader should wave to the individual rider/group and vise-versa. In a group you have maybe TWO SECONDS to react to the rider in front of you! You need to keep formation and accept that the group leader will do the waving for you otherwise you’re just putting yourself and everyone else in jeopardy.

  8. Ever ridden anything other than a Harley?

Duh! I’ve ridden BMWs, Honda’s, Yamaha’s, and a Norton. They were all fun to ride and if I ever look to a non Harley in my future it’ll most likely be a BMW R1200GS (really loved how it handled).

  9. What group do you ride with?

None in particular really. I’m a member of the Dawgs of the North, Patriot Guard Riders, Christian Motorcyclist Association, ABATE of Alaska, and Harley Owner&’s Group. I prefer to just ride so groups come and go for me. Simply, it’s about visiting new places and meeting neat people on the road.
