Had My First Wreck Tuesday….

I guess if you play the odds, it was meant to happen.

Around 2pm on Tuesday, May 27th I had just turned onto Spenard Road from Minnesota. I was behind a vehicle in the left lane and it started to speed up, so I followed. The vehicle darted to the right cutting off the vehicle on the right to avoid the stopped explorer making the turn off Spenard (the road right before the tracks).

Needless to say all I could do was lock up the brakes, ride it through and hope for the best.

According to my friend that was behind me, I hit the back and rode my detachable windshield into the explorer which kept me from having any injuries from that impact. My injuries came from being slung back out onto the street.

I have a cracked pelvis, bruised ribs and scarred knuckles.

We are still determining the damage to the bike as of this posting.

It was such a nice day I only had on my FXRG jacket at the time (no gloves, helmet or chaps).

All in all…I came out on top and the only thing I regret loosing was my new Armani glasses.

So I will be convalescing with friends as my “tree house” condo isn’t really conducive to the wheelchair/walker lifestyle I have to follow for the next 4-6 weeks.

I will be riding again. You can count on it.

Thanks for the kind words, messages, texts, etc. from everyone. It has been greatly appreciated.

There are pictures of the bike and me (and my vest) from the emergency room that I will post online once I have them downloaded.
