Changing my involvement in the Bike Blessing

This year I won’t be in any leadership role for the Bike Blessing. I have always enjoyed being a big part of the Gathering (Bike Blessing @Anchorage City Church) – it’s has always been hard, but worthwhile work. My vision has always been that at some point the church would be totally in charge of this event with people like myself being there in a volunteer, rather than management capacity.

This year, my prayers have been answered.

The last meeting had Church members taking on the role of managing parking (my job) and photography (Minx’s job) to the point that we are confident we can step away.

This will allow me to actually take part in the event (Minx and I are usually so tired after working the ACC we just go home and take a nap rather that ride to the Park Strip) as well as do something I’ve never been able to do at ANY event – see Arctic Attack perform!

I know that to many it will seem odd to not see me there parking bike.

The truth is, however, that I can’t always be there to park bikes….so why not stop now when I can actually participate in the event?

I have faith that the event will be just as (or even MORE) successful without me!
